Jens Pilger studied between 2003 and 2008 geochemistry at the University of Tübingen, the Montana State University (USA), and the University of Göttingen with an emphasis on analytical and physical chemistry. His diploma thesis related to the subject of analytical chemistry on subterranean bacteria from a Swedish underground deposit for nuclear waste.

Between 2009 and 2014, Jens worked as a scientist at the Max-Planck-Institute for biophysical chemistry in Göttingen in the department of NMR-based structural biology and completed his PhD thesis in physical chemistry 2013. His doctoral thesis related to the development of new spectroscopic methods for structure-based drug design and was elaborated in a close collaboration with the pharmaceutical company Sanofi.

In 2014, Jens started his activity in the field of intellectual property law at DHS Patentanwalts GmbH. He passed the German patent bar examination in 2017 and is a European Trademark and Design Attorney. In 2018 he qualified as a European Patent Attorney. In 2021, he became partner and managing director of DHS Patentanwalts GmbH.

As a patent attorney, Jens has worked predominantly in the fields of electronics and semiconductor technology, measurement technology, software, chemistry, medical devices, process technology, and optical analytics. His activities in the field of intellectual property cover all aspects of national and international patent law. Additionally, he has specific experience in patent grant proceedings in the USA and Asia.

Jens speaks German, English, and Spanish and has good knowledge in French.
