Julia Zipfel studied Environmental Engineering at the Moscow State University for Environmental Engineering and graduated in 2005. In 2010, she received a PhD degree in Hydraulic Engineering from the Russian Research Institute of Land Reclamation in Rostov-on-Don and Moscow. Parallel to her work as a doctoral student, she studied Law at the Kutafin Moscow State Law University. She then worked as a lawyer in Moscow, predominantly in the construction sector.
After moving to Germany in 2015, she studied Patent Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Jena. She completed her studies with her master's thesis on "The experimental use exemption from patent infringement liability: a comparison of economically relevant countries", which she conducted in the department Patents and Licenses at the Fraunhofer Society in Munich. During her studies she gained first professional experience in the field of intellectual property as an intern at Tembo, a globally active mechanical engineering company in the Netherlands, and at Continental in Frankfurt.
Julia started working for DHS Patentanwalts GmbH in 2021.
As a Patent Attorney Trainee, she works primarily in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering.
She speaks German, English and Russian.
