Gilbert Tay studied aerospace engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich from 2008 to 2014. He specialised in aeronautical engineering as well as aircraft engines and gas turbines. His master’s thesis at BSH Hausger\u00e4te GmbH in Berlin dealt with flow optimisation with regard to heat and mass transfer in tumble dryers. BSH filed a patent application for his invention on the basis of his master’s thesis. He then continued his employment at BSH as a development engineer in the “Air Flow and Acoustics” department in Berlin until 2015, where BSH applied for patents for more of his inventions in the field of flow and process engineering. <\/p>\n

From 2015 to 2018, Gilbert Tay worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Aeronautical Systems at the Technical University of Munich. His scientific work focused on the evaluation of future technologies and included close collaboration with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Airbus and Siemens on the development of a technology platform for electric flight. His doctoral thesis (Dr.-Ing.) dealt with aviation networks and technology assessment in preliminary aircraft design. As an expert in operational aviation, Gilbert Tay also holds an active EASA professional pilot licence.<\/p>\n

Gilbert Tay started his career in the field of intellectual property from 2020 to 2021 in a renowned Munich patent law firm. He then continued his work as IP Counsel in the Corporate IP department at D\u00fcrr AG until 2023, most recently advising the “Clean Technology Systems” division of D\u00fcrr Systems AG, in particular in the field of lithium-ion battery production. In 2023, Gilbert started his career at Dilg, Haeusler, Schindelmann Patentanwalts GmbH. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

His technical areas were mainly in the field of general mechanical engineering, particularly in aeronautical engineering, tool technology, process engineering and industrial plant engineering.<\/p>\n
